I make documentary films for a living. Transcriber is the side project: a small menu bar app for the Mac that records the calls I'm on, both sides, and writes the transcript while we're still talking, without sending a minute of audio anywhere.

It started as a tool for my own interviews and production calls. I wanted the transcript as a file in a folder, not in someone's cloud, and I didn't want a bot sitting in the participant list. The app grew from there and I decided to give it away. The source is on GitHub, the download is free, and the blog is where I write down what I learn about recording calls on a Mac, honestly, limits included.
